That Missing Part

What are you supposed to do

When you are missing that big part?

That one that made you smile each day,

The way he said sweetheart.

You go through every day and live,

You get through each long night,

You do the thing you're supposed to do?

It still doesn’t feel quite right.

You knew it wouldn't be easy,

You knew it would be tough,

But massively underestimated,

The ache would be so rough.

Every day feels less like pretending,

And yet your missing that whole part,

The one that made you loved again,

The one that owns your heart.

But its ok, you tell yourself.

You tried your very best,

But no one will compare to him.

It still aches in your chest.

You hope hes doing better than you,

At not dwelling on what should have been,

At not overthinking every word,

And not replaying every scene.

A lesson is resilience,

A thing to teach your heart,

Its not easy getting over,

Of that loving missing part .
