She always found it funny when they said blood was thicker than water. She never felt that way. She'd spilt a lot of blood in her time, some of it her own, it was thick, thin, dark or light. But some blood runs thinner than water. She left home when she was 17. Well…left…she had to go. And then it took her a long time to go back. And just like when she left…she had to. She was always forced to when it came to her family, there was never any choice for her.
Leaving her ship in Val Royeaux, she had travelled to Skyhold to help but recently…well recently the shine had worn off her mission. Making friends that turned out not to be friends, the camaraderie everyone seemed to share yet she stood outside of, all that had made her realise why she decided to hold herself away from all that, keep herself apart for so long.
She sat on the battlements looking down into the courtyard, kicking her heels against the wall, her chin propped on her fist in thought, she was the picture of thoughtfulness. Watching the soldiers train, the Inquisitor strode across to the tavern, and occasionally one of his close companions wandered through the place. Her eyebrows drew together as she frowned in further thoughts. The last few years she had always tried to be good. Never killed when she didn't have to. Never took what someone couldn't afford to loose. Hell, she even came to Skyhold thinking she could do some good. And yet…and yet she still felt like a villain. Years of revelling in bloodshed and piracy leaves a mark, she could feel that familiar anger burn through her at times, she was surprised her teeth weren't reduced to stubs the amount of grinding she did of them. She was once told that she was forgiven for that but the person that told her no longer deserved an opinion on her life, therefore the forgiveness was gone in her eyes. She turned those eyes to the Tavern and sighed. No, no friends there anymore. So what was she doing here? She had acquired the maps she worked so hard to get, her damn shoulder still felt stiff in the mornings and that scar was a reminder to get to never let her guard down in future!
As she contemplated all this, a tingle down her spine made her turn her head. Someone was watching her. She stayed still only letting her eyes slide from one side of the keep to the other. Nothing. But she knew that feeling, it had kept her alive more times than she could count. She leaned back and stretched, using the motion to look more freely around. Nothing. She sat up straight and sighed. She's been feeling like this for weeks. Someone watching her yet no one there. A feeling she had just missed someone's gaze.
She growled to herself and dropped from the wall fixing herself before heading down into the courtyard And to the forge to find her hot piece of ass. She honestly never thought he would come. Silly to think he wouldn't. It affected everyone, she looked up and grimaced, she'd never felt the need to help "for the greater good" but that…tear in the sky just felt wrong, so wrong.
