I think stories ruined it

Wanting you to believe

In happily ever after,

But these tales deceive.

Life is so hard,

And hammers you down,

And you try and find happiness

So that you don't drown.

That trusting in people?

Was a huge mistake.

So you wall yourself up,

With your smiles so fake.

But one day soon,

At the end of that tale

You pick yourself up,

Feeling dented and frail.

One more step,

Then another, one more.

You keep on going,

Feeling less broken and worn.

There's always tomorrow,

As you start to heal.

Your smiles aren't faked,

On a more even keel.

You can not break me false friend,

It’s already been done.

I've picked myself up,

I've started to run.

With my heart like kitsugi,

That ending you wanted?

Well you made that happen,

But I am not daunted.

I'll keep on going,

Start the story a'new,

With love and with joy,

Except without you...
