She strode round the hissing wastes absentmindedly slaughtering spiders, venatori, and something that she didn't quite remember.

The whole while thinking "he totally lied to me…" and feeling an odd pain in her chest. It wasn't like being stabbed, although it felt remarkably close.

She held her staff pointed, staring into space as a gout of flame left it until she felt a huge finger poke her shoulder

"Uuuhhh boss? I think it's dead" a deep voice said.

She blinked and focused her eyes on the sand slowly turning to glass under her power

"Oh!" She almost squeaked before she cleared her throat and nodded. Turning to The Iron Bull she replied lightly "I knew that…I was just…making sure"

"Uuuuh huuuuuuh" replied the big qunari before stepping back and glancing at the others.

They all looked at each other bemused. All of them unable to think what to say before the spirit of compassion turned human, opened his mouth to speak when Iron Bull shook his massive horned head and Cole closed his mouth.

The Inquisitor huffed "When you're all quite finished, we should get back to Skyhold." Really, who was in charge here? She shook herself and squaring her shoulders, strode away back to the camp, the others trailing along after her. All of them not knowing what had happened, not knowing what to say, unsure if they should say anything at all.

Some time later, much later after she had used resources to find him, she sat on the tower stairs leading up to her room at Skyhold, it was the only place she could actually get a little peace.

She loved him. She did love him. She loved him and he lied. She loved him and he lied to her face! Did that make their love a lie? Did he even love her back? He left her, after they had been together that night, left her alone, naked and alone.

The pain in her chest sharpened making her gasp, putting a closed, glowing fist to that pain and screwing her eyes up she swallowed a sob. Wasn't it enough that all this was put on her? Wasn't it enough when so much was expected of her?

She wanted to weep so hard her heart would shatter into a million pieces then force those pieces from her eyes as tears to fall where they may.

But...she couldn't do that., she was the Inquisitor.

There was no time to weep. No time to try to fix what was broken, so she stood and wiped her eyes. Taking a deep breath she steeled herself for the confrontation with her lover. This was the true consequence of his lie. Having to walk round with a shattered heart while trying to be the Hero everyone needed…
